And one very happy photographer. I am over the moon to announce another year of nominations for this years Societies Photographer of the Year in the categories of Pets and Portrait Studio. The images are below:
Each year throughout the year I submit images to the Societies monthly competition. Images receive one of 3 ratings: Gold, Highly Commended or No Award Given. This year I submitted 37 images. 5 were awarded Gold and 17 were given Highly Commended. The highly commended images have a second chance of being judged, this time by a panel of judges rather than just one. And in this second round 3 of my images were upgraded to Gold, giving me a total of 8 Golds. The upgraded images are shown below:
So what does this mean? Well these Golds are then judged by an even larger panel of highly qualified photographers who then choose the nominees and winners of each category, of which there are 28.
This year the competition saw a total of 13 877 images submitted by photographers from around the world. So I feel incredibly honoured that 2 of my images made it to the final. Now I just have to wait until the Awards Night at the convention in London in January to find out if I won.
I've been dreaming of winning an award since I started attending these conventions 8 years ago. It will mean so much to me if I actually win. But for now at least I'm going to enjoy the dream while there is still the possibility. So even if I don't win, at least I have these next 5 weeks believing that I just might.
