Another Client Returns

I first met this family nearly 4 years ago. I photographed their boys after having met them at playgroup. We've been friends ever since. In fact it amazes me how many of my friends I first met as clients.

Its a good feeling knowing that these people who come into my life through my portrait business have remained in my life as friends. I wouldn't have expected that when I started out but I am glad its worked out that way. I've met some wonderful people.

Including this family, with their angelic looking children. And I say 'angelic looking' childen for a reason. Their parents would be the first to admitt that they are not always angels. They have the most amusing stories to tell which I am sure will go down well at an 18th birthday or other special occasion in future.

Anyway, as usual, these boys photograph well. Their smiles and their eyes are absolutely gorgeous. I could photograph them all day, not that they would let me.

The older one did his best so he could be done quickly and then proceeded to tell off the younger one for messing about and making it take too long when I had to photograph them both together.

In the end though, I got exactly what I wanted. I loved the portraits so much I now even have one as a sample for the studio. Though narrowing it down to which one to choose was the hard part.

London in Spring, Whats Not to Love?

Well I know there is still a lot not to love but I'm choosing to see the great things about London at the moment. I am having a ball this year visiting London as often as I can. Which is unusual for me since I usually prefer the comfort of my own home, in rural old Leicestershire. Staying home and avoiding people has always been the easy option. But this year, possibly due to the wonderful weather we keep having, has me longing for venturing out. Again, just like my last trip, I headed out with my good friend Panikos Hajistilly . Portraits Even a Teenager Boy Loves

Finally I've had the opportunity to photograph a young man in my studio again. And funnily enough this was the second time that week which is absolutely superb. In both cases these young men were just as enthusiastic to be involved as I was, which is something I don't often get when I'm working with very young children, my usual subjects. With young children I find my energy in their cuteness. But with young adults I get energy from their excitement over how the portraits are working out. I get such a buzz from the experience and that can keep me going for hours, often editing the photos straight after the shoot for hours more. Shoots for teenagers is something I've been wanting to focus on for some time. Its not something that I often get asked for though unfortunately. My First London Fashion Shoot

Well I finally did it. I bit the bullet and faced my fears and headed to London with a good friend, Mr. Panikos Hajistilly to do my first location shoot. We chose our locations together and Panikos organised a model and brought so much of his gear which he kindly shared with me. And probably most importantly, he showed me how it's done. I was so surprised to see just how much wonderful light was there, just waiting to be used. I am a studio photographer and while I understand the use of studio flash very well, I am very much out of practice and out of my comfort zone with using available light. Its one thing to place lights and backdrops around my subject in the comfort of my studio. Its very different to find the right light and the right backdrop in unfamiliar territory and to place my subject in it.
