Sisterly Love

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing an absolutely stunning little girl and her new baby brother. To be honest, the shoot had me a little worried at first. Its always difficult photographing 2 people together when one isn't able to sit or stand unaided and the other is too young to hold them.

But we got around that one by lying them both on blankets on the floor. I'm loving this pose at the moment and now rather than worrying what to do with young siblings I'm actually looking forward to my next opportunity. Thankfully I had 2 very co-operating subjects. I must say I was surprised that the 6 week old younger brother had such great eye contact with myself and the camera.

As always I like to get images of baby's little feet. They are just so tiny. But without putting something else in the image to show prospective the smallness can't be portrayed. So what better to include than big sister's feet.

Then finally I was able to photograph big sister on her own. She is such a photogenic little thing it was a pleasure to photograph her. I could have gone on forever but the poor girl had been so patient working with her baby brother she had had enough before long. But I got what I wanted so I'm thrilled. I absolutely love the image below. And so did Mum and Dad.

Limited Edition Storybook Portrait Sessions

Well in the end I didn't take this promotion as seriously as was required in so much as I didn't allocate any budget for advertising. I relied only on the few posts on Facebook and as such I only did 2 sessions, which to be perfectly honest, was all I could handle this year given that I'd not properly planned for these sessions in an already busy time of year. However, what I did do proved to me that this is something that deserves proper attention and a concerted effort to push this promotion forward. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of it, from shopping for props, to the sessions and then the editing. I really love the fun that these sessions provide and the look of the finished images. Spring will see a second go at this special collection with plenty of advertising in the run up to our event. Wellies, Wellies and More Wellies

Over the past couple of years I've been photographing Jileon Ltd's wellies for their website. And over the last couple of months I have had quite a bit to do for them. Jileon is a great client of ours, giving us regular work that I can undertake in my own time and in my own way. It makes for such a relaxing change from having to make small children smile in a short span of time. Particularly since they can't get up and walk away just at the moment when all elements of the perfect image come together. The only real challenge in photographing wellies for me seems to be the dreaded reflection that is unavoidable when photographing shiny objects using flash. My Associate Panel

As I mentioned in my last blog, I achieved my Associateship in Portraiture with the SWPP (Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers). I just thought I would share with you the panel I submitted. Having sat through the assessment I see that there are a couple of images that I wish I hadn't chosen, more so due to not having enough variety rather than the lack of quality. but overall I am pleased with my submission. I always thought that once I achieved my Associateship I would be done with qualifications. Working towards a Fellowship just seems so unattainable. I don't think I can just sit here not striving towards a goal though. Besides, my husband has already set 5 year plan. So I guess I've not seen the end of qualifications just yet. But don't be expecting any news on this front for quite some time though. A fellowship is on an entirely new level and its going to take a lot of work.
